Trust Your Intuition

in·tu·i·tion

noun: intuition

The ability to understand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning.

Have you had those moments of clarity or perhaps a series of moments that feel like a gravitational pull towards something or someone? If so, how do you recognize those moments and how do you react?

This year has felt serendipitous on many accounts - most importantly, it is a huge part of why decided to invest into my photography business full time and begin my educational journey in Digital Marketing. After a series of fortuitous events falling in alignment, the message was undeniable: The time for change is now.

Recently I was catching up with an old friend - a friend that I have not spent time with in about 4 years. Although we have been in nearby locations, we have both been busy enough that it just didn’t happen. The motive to start the conversation? I felt a light pull; a reoccurring thought to connect with her. Prior to our visit, I had no background information and yet I found out we were experiencing a very similar realities in our lives. They were so closely related that we were able to share our experiences and discuss potential creative solutions and ideas to help one another. I found this incredibly interesting, as this is not the first time I have been gravitated towards something and/or someone where I would later find out how meaningful that connection would become for us both.

Intuition for me is that nagging feeling - a reoccurring thought that keeps coming back to remind me of my path. A series of micro evidence based events that add up to big ideas. You many not know what it means at the time; in my experience you rarely do until it becomes an opportunity worth exploring. One thing that remains true is that trusting my intuition has never lead me in the wrong direction. Even when the moments between the start and where you end up were less than ideal, the true outcome would reveal that those challenges only made me stronger and worthy of the opportunities that lay in front of me.

You may be wondering how does intuition relate to Photography? Photography is not simply the art of technical meeting creativity - although they are very important aspects. In my opinion it is about connecting with people and allowing your intuition to guide you. By listening to your intuition, you are forming bonds and in many cases forever friendships with some pretty amazing individuals and their kin. For me, connection is very important. It’s guided my photography career and offered opportunities to meet some incredible people. Some of my most treasured friendships have been through creative connections.

And so, I am here to remind you that although intuition can be kind of tricky sometimes and you may not always have the desired outcome. Be open to the opportunities that present themselves; they can lead to some pretty amazing things and people.

Sincerely,

Miss Friend Photography
